Ronie Dinosaur Chapter 148 – The Mirror They Refuse
The very same society-parents and past friends included-
who dumped me here, responsibilities shrugged off,
obligations piled on like chains,
cornered me with blame-
would they suddenly applaud
if I wrote a philosophical book
forcing them to face the mirror
they’ve spent lifetimes avoiding?
Laughable.
Shameful.
Stupid.
They abandoned the boy,
then would cheer the man
for exposing the cowardice
they still wear like skin.
No.
They would turn away faster,
call it bitterness,
call it ungratefulness,
call it anything
that lets them keep sleeping.
The mirror shows them clearly-
and they hate the reflection
more than they ever hated me.
Only time will tell the truth.
But there is one thing
no other human,
no other intelligence,
can ever claim to know:
the cost I paid to be this man-
the walk of dignity,
integrity,
intent,
and truth
of Ronie Dinosaur.
So I hold the mirror steady anyway.
Not for their applause.
Not for reconciliation.
Only because someone must.
Ronie Dinosaur keeps walking-
mirror in one hand,
truth in the other,
footprints for the few
brave enough to read.
Character demands truth,
even when the audience
would rather burn the book
than read it.
