Human beings, built to survive within these cycles, learn to recognize patterns and align themselves accordingly. Reverence follows alignment.

Nature rewards them because they cooperate with it.
Their meaning-making is adaptive. Pain is translated into story because story preserves cohesion. Story becomes teaching because teaching sustains groups.
